- What I Do -
User Centric
I have over six years experience working in customer-facing roles. I am organised, have very good communication skills, and I am a team player. My interests include user-centred design. I am very interested in understanding how the consumer behaves and interacts with a product/service. In my undergraduate engineering degree I learned the skills necessary to gain insights into a user's needs by taking a user-centred approach to problem-solving. I am empathic and a good listener, meaning I can put myself in the user's shoes and get a good understanding of their perspective.
 Creative Thinking
In my spare time I like to hike and travel. I also enjoy taking photographs of my family, friends and people I meet to capture these wonderful memories. I feel most inspired when I am travelling and pushing myself out of my usual comfort zone. Drawing and painting have always been an outlet for my creativity. I have recently taught myself how to use Artflow to create digital drawings.
 Learning
An eternal student at heart, I always enjoy reading and learning more. I enjoy constantly challenging myself to build on my current skillset and also to learn new skills. I am currently undertaking Google's UX Design courses on Coursera.
- How I Do It -
I take the design thinking approach to my projects. The steps involved in design thinking are shown in the image. They include: empathise with the user, define the problem, ideate, prototype, test. I found this image on the Interaction Design Foundation website. Design thinking is an iterative process that is used to continuously improve a design. The prototype is created and tested, feedback is received and the necessary changes are made to improve the design. The revised prototype undergoes the same process until the final design is reached that solves the problem identified in the beginning of this process. For me, feedback is the most important component of any design process. I am aware that not everyone thinks like me, so I like to get input from others on how my design can be improved.
